Tim Duncan
MA, LPC-A
My name is Tim Duncan. I currently live in Greenwood, South Carolina "The Emerald City", which I can proudly say is known for having the world's widest main street, and some of the friendliest and most compassionate people I have had the pleasure of meeting. A beautiful state full of history, tradition, and beaches that captivates migrants (such as myself) to the 255 days of sunshine per year.
I have migrated to South Carolina from "Almost Heaven" West Virginia. I was born and raised in that great state and can proudly say received the educational and professional experiences of a lifetime. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, Master of Science in Rehabilitation Counseling, and most recently a Master of Public Administration from West Virginia University (with a class or five from Clemson University in SC). I am happily married with two children, a son and daughter, who fill each day with joy, love, support, and a new life lesson.
Throughout my career I have worked as a Psychometrist and Clinical Therapist in a psychiatric hospital, which also provided services to the Level 1 Trauma hospital located in the middle of West Virginia University. Once I got married it wasn't long before I left the snowy hills of West Virginia for the sunny sky of South Carolina. It was here that I went to work for the Department of Mental Health as a school-based counselor, and then as Director of Family Treatment Services for a state-run residential children's home. I have served as the Vice President of Programs & Services after functioning as the Director of Quality Improvement & Special Projects at a private nonprofit children's home. I have also served as the Upstate Regional Director of a private nonprofit organization working directly with the South Carolina Dept. of Social Services assisting at risk youth and families.
In addition to the above-mentioned professions, I have also been an Adjunct Professor. I have served as the Area Chair for Humanities & Social Sciences at the University of Phoenix, Columbia, SC campus. I continue to teach as faculty for the University of Phoenix, and California Baptist University. Throughout my counseling career I have worked with people from ages 4-94. I have extensive experience working with children, adults, and families with a wide variety of situations and experiences. My personal philosophy is that each day is an opportunity to learn and grow together.
